How Do I Become a Christian?

Becoming a Christian and receiving the salvation of the Lord is as easy as A,B,C.

A

stands for admitting that you are a sinner with your mouth.
-If you have ever told a lie or stole something or anything against God or His word you are a sinner.
-The Bible says we all are sinners. Every one of us has sinned, and we have to admit that.

B

stands for believe. We believe that Christ is the only Son of God with our heart.
-Jesus, God’s only Son, was perfect and righteous. He alone cleanses us from our sins. Jesus gave His life on the cross to save us from our sins; without Jesus we all would be lost.
-When Jesus died on the cross, He was buried and after three days He arose by the power of God. Jesus now sits in Heaven with God. Believing this with our heart is faith.

C

stands for commit.
-We have to admit that we are a sinner and believe in Jesus as God’s Son and commit our lives to Him. We trust Him to direct our lives through His Word; when we commit to follow Him, we give up control.

Now That I’m a Christian, What’s Next?

First, God tells us in His Word that we should be baptized. Baptism does not save us. It is only an outward expression of our inward change. Baptism represents the death, burial and resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus.

Second, God tells us that we are to attach ourselves to a body of believers so that we may grow in the strength of His Word and our commitment. Here at Bay Springs Baptist Church, we take that role very seriously. We strive to be that body of believers in which a new or long time Christian can find shelter, comfort, growth, and challenges. We want to follow through in your spiritual walk with Jesus Christ.

Third, God tells us that we are not to be silent in our walk with Him. He commands us at the end of the Gospels to go out and tell the world what he has done in our lives. We are to be His witnesses here on earth and to every part of the earth.
